Amazing deck!
The artwork and writings of Margarete Petersen are impeccable. This is an abstract tarot deck, but it's very beautifully done. Shift your vision ever so slightly and each time you see a card it reveals something new. The card-stock is like butter, it shuffles wonderfully, it's just a bit large for smaller handed readers. Though, it NEEDS to be big. You'd miss so much in the art if it were any smaller. It's a loving, very healing deck that has quickly risen to the TOP of my favorites list within my collection. I use it almost daily, for personal and professional readings. If you understand German, I suggest finding the German edition of this deck instead, as from what I'm told, the book is much bigger, comes in color, with large, full-page representations of the artwork and a much more detailed write up on each card (since it's not being translated). This, however, is still wonderful even in simple 'ole English.
The only thing that could have been been changed here is how the deck is advertised. I did not see anything stating that it was a tuck box with a stapled-paper book. Apart from the line or crease at the top of the image (the only indication it's a tuck box, a part I missed initially), I would have been expecting a two-layered box (not sure the proper term, but with a lid that lifts off...) and with a glue-bound paperback book. Apparently there is another English version of this deck that comes this way. Another difference between that deck (the deck I THOUGHT this was) and what you'll get here is that there is a border on the backing of the card, as where the other version has the pretty painted border all the way up to the edge of the backing. It must just come from a different publishing house, or a different stock... Not sure. I'm still quite happy with my deck and wouldn't trade it for any other, but I didn't read these things anywhere in the description and it would have been nice to know before ordering. Also, I have seen it a bit cheaper on other UK sites, but it's so rare in the US, I was willing to pay a little extra when it went out of stock on those sites. Those are the only factors that make me give this a 4 star rating, when the deck itself really deserves 5.
A note on that, though, this company is in Poland, so maybe they just didn't know how to write it up? They said it'd get to me in the States in 3 weeks and it arrived in less than 2! I'm very happy about that, as I was very highly anticipating its arrival. I hope more companies start to produce this in the US.... Every reader should have this in their collection!
