3d printing
1 of 1 found this helpful After reading other reviews I finally decided to go with makerbot. I had seen several of these printers in use at a local museum, where they had been reproducing one the Chinese imperial palaces. The detail was amazing. You could still see the print layers but after they had finished and painted each piece everything looked perfect. The makerbot mini has a few quirks and takes a few minutes to set up, but you once you get it going you'll be printing every chance you get. I've found that while print times can vary from an hour to ten hours it does give you the ability to print multiple parts at one time. I was most impressed with a ball joint doll print that had internal parts that allowed movement of the hand and wrist without any assembly. Very impressive, I hope at some point they will make upgrades for the mini to allow use of other materials than just PLA and I think the purchase of a 3d printing pen would allow more options for adding multiple colors and details to your single color print.
