In the heat of the night
A classic 60's film.Set in a small Southern town against the embedded black/white divide of that era,the underlying bigotry from both Black and White sides of the story becomes a central theme,which is slowly overcome by the realization from the 2 main characters (Gillespie and Tibbs)that the crime they're investigating is the reason they have been forced together.They eventually,if some what awkwardly,accept the other and work together to solve the crime and in doing so they acknowledge their own differences.
A brilliant role played by both Sydney Poitier and Rod Steiger to bring over the twists,turns and false leads of a tinder box situation.
