Garmin Nuvi 3790T
I bought it on the basis of reviews. I am pleased with it and would certainly buy it again at the discounted price I paid, Β£225 new, prior to the VAT increase. Its accurate response to voice commands is remarkably good.
Surprisingly, it seems to have difficulty locking onto satellites when it is inside a building whereas a much older sat nav is able to do this in the same locations. It works fine outside in my pocket or when it is docked in the car where it is automatically connected to the windscreen antenna which comes with it. It is not a major problem because when planning a journey it does have a default mode if it cannot acquire signals.
I have also found it somewhat unreliable in the last stage. When identifying a building in a street on the basis of street number, it quite often seems to get the side, and the position in the road wrong.

A Practical Solution to a Temporary Problem
An inexpensive but adequate product, used by my wife to keep her hair off her face while she has no recourse to a hairdresser.

A product with limitations
We enjoy no street lighting and I purchased the units to make it easier to identify our entrance in the dark. Fully charged from another source the batteries will power the lights for at least eight hours, which is sufficient for my purpose. Unfortunately, the solar panels are inadequate in winter providing three hours of light at most. I have therefore now fitted additional solar cells which are also angled to catch the sun better than the horizontal cells fitted.
I have no complaint based on value for money but be aware of the limitation.
