Must have Elvis box set - shame about the other acts!
Beautifully presented 3 DVD box set with accompanying booklet. Although Elvis is the star turn on the famous 3 shows, he is something of a bit-part player sandwiched between automobile adverts and mediocre acts. There is a feature which allows you to watch solely Elvis' performances which is perfect for anyone who couldn't 'give a monkey's' about the other shenanigans going on! Elvis stands out like a beacon on every performance and is 'leg shakingly' fantastic during his performances of Ready Teddy and Hound Dog to name a few. Elvis, humourously milks the female adulation at every opportunity and Ed Sullivan tries in vain on some occasions to try and keep order! Elvis' last show is now famously dubbed 'From The Waist Up' as Elvis was deemed to be 'too raunchy', and filmed accordingly so, heaven forbid! Although the acts that surround Elvis are poor and the adverts monotonous, they add to what was a momentous occasion in Elvis' career as his career soared to even greater heights on the back of these superb performances. What is worth the purchase price alone are the special features, showing an incredibly rare home movie clip of Elvis performing - officially the earliest moving pictures of Elvis which personally 'blew me away'. Other features include Elvis, Priscilla and friends cutting up on a film set and some of the first shots of Lisa Marie plus Elvis remembered by Sam Philips, Wink Martindale and George Klein etc... A must have Elvis DVD box set - your Elvis collection is not complete without it, trust me and enjoy.
