Metabo BAS318 240v Precision Band Saw plus Stand

An excellent bandsaw

Having researched bandsaws suitable for DIY use, I decided on the Metabo BAS318 for its more powerful induction motor, depth of cut and wider throat than most saws at that price. I had never seen it, but bought entirely from internet research and am not disappointed. In fact, the quality of build has surprised me when I compare it to the power tools (table saw and thicknesser) by well-known power tool manufactures that I already have. The motor is quiet - the cutting action of the blade creates more noise than the motor! It was not difficult to set up - it was set up and cutting successfully within an hour of the box being opened. It comes with a pretty standard 1/4" blade that some reviewers complain about - I have no complaints. The first cuts on the saw were of old seasoned Ash firewood and it cuts up to capacity depth of 6" without a problem. Yes, I'm sure there are better blades available but don't discard the one that comes fitted. Overall a great saw that, so far, has given nothing but excellent service.
