Great stuff.
Goes on easily and produces a beautiful finish. Like any stain or varnish, any variations in the surface of wood will affect how much product is taken up and, therefore, the depth of colour. Areas that are not sanded quite as smooth may end up darker, and areas that have been exposed to sunlight for long periods may not take as much colour - this pine door was stored for 10 years behind a sofa in plastic packaging with a paper label over one corner, and that corner is significantly darker. Sand down to a uniform smooth surface and you will get the best finish - Briwax enhances, it doesn't hide.

Good replacement for an older unit.
Not as sturdy as the older model it replaced, but much easier to fit and, once in place, very solid. On the old one, the fan was mounted at the top of the chimney which was difficult to fit. On this one, the fan sits directly on top of the hood which is much easier, but you do need to buy some plastic ducting (either solid or flexible) if you want to vent outside - but that's cheap and readily available from places like Screwfix.
