Good old iPod. The one set the standard for portable devices.
Well, this is legendary 5th generation with Wolfson chip. It is powerful enough to drive Etymotic 4S (100 Ohms). Moreover it is easy to convert it to use CF card instead of hard drive. - Battery life is not that good especially running on hard drive, but is it solid enough to play music all day long. - Pretty heavy compared to modern devices (again - converting it to CF makes it significantly lighter) - Sound is reach and tasty. Newer generations sound just not as good.
