Upstairs Downstairs - History Re-visited
2 of 2 found this helpful We bought this DVD collection for nostalgic reasons. We were avid fans of Upstairs Downstairs when it was screened years ago and especially of Gordon Jackson who was so perfect in the role of Hudson. Having "gone digital" recently and investing in a fancy new VCR/DVD/hard drive combo unit to augment a Virgin + box we thought it an idea to purchase the series. It certainly takes one back to the good, in fact GREAT days of television. Quality is superb and seeing the program on a 42" set certainly beats the heck out of the TV's of 30 odd years ago. We seldom have purchased DVD's or in fact VCR taped programs so have litle to go on for comparison except to say we are impressed.
Would I buy it again? No - because you only need it the once. Would I buy similar? Yes, but only if I live that long - with a stack of DVD's in the package and 4 episodes per DVD it is going to take us forever to get through it all - but superb entertainment at a good price.
