ASRock AB350M Pro4 mATX Motherboard for AMD AM4 CPUs
01 Dec, 2018
Best choice MoBo for RYZEN
I've used the ASUS and the ASRock and this ASRock is rock solid as normal with their products. I used ASRock for my first RYZEN build because it was the only one with no problems. The other ones kept needing BIOS updates to make it work with 2 sticks of RAM or what ever. That's no longer a problem with any of them but in early 2017 it was all a bit new. It's worth getting a reasonably good motherboard (MoBo) because you can then get the best performance from the RAM and CPU. RAM and CPU are the expensive parts so don't cheap out on the MoBo. If you get the X version of RYZEN it uses a lot more power so spend more on the MoBo because that's one of the difference.

Segate 750GB RAID 1 Mirror 140MB/s
I built a ClearOS7 server with a couple of these 750GB drives £30 in an old HP Compaq dx2450 AMD dual core 5200B with 4GB RAM £30 and an AMCC 3Ware 9650SE-2LP SATA RAID card £15. £75 in total all from ebay. It can copy files on it's own hard drive at 140GB/s when testing with a 1GB zip file so it's pushing data at the near 3gbps bandwidth. Not bad for the money plus the fun of building the server. Built two like this now but the 2nd one is not using such good drives so is a lot slower.
AMD Wraith SPIRE AM4 Ryzen CPU Cooler Heatsink Fan Copper - 712-000048 Rev:B

Screw down with solid copper core, very cool.
People sell these copper coolers that come with the RYZEN because they think they can do better. Yes they can but it's either some heat piped monstrosity with two fans or a full AIO water cooler. The 3000 series RYZENs are the coolest ones made so far, much cooler than the new 5000 series. This Wraith Spire is very effective, the CPU does not thermal throttle. Now the Wraith Stealth is another matter. Your CPU is being held back. Replace it with this one to retain the same look whilst sorting out the cooling.
