A Terrific Read!

Christopher Sandford is an accomplished historian who has a thorough command of his subject and ability to discuss what is most certainly a serious subject with a truly gifted writer's panache. Every word has meaning and nothing in this book should be overlooked. Sanford writes with the elan of a novelist, recreating historical figures so well they seem like familiar characters, even the most obscure. I hate to use the cliche, but this is a book I could not put down until the last page.
