Old but gold
2 of 2 found this helpful A nice light and simple 'old school' MD player. It will only handle old style MDs (not Hi-MD) recorded using the 'SP' codec (292kbit/sec) - i.e. you get a CD's worth of music per disc. Made in Japan for the export market, the sound and build quality is excellent, but it is old school so you only get a small port hole display with no track info other than track #, toggled (if you hold the button down) with duration played. Forget about the control sticks you get with more advanced MD models - the only port on the E300 is for headphones.
Bass boost works well and AVLS is there if you want to spare your ear drums.
Bear in mind this device will not handle MP3s or even MDLP (132kbps and 66kbps - LP2 & LP4 respectively). Its beauty is its simplicity - b0ll0cks to the 160gig ipod - take the time to enjoy an album from start to finish in high quality sound without incessant shuffling and fidgeting. These are offered at £30 on ebay which is ridiculous (you can get a hiMd unit for an extra tenner if you bid wisely). But for a tenner or so with one of these you are laughing.

Everything you need to get started and to develop your repertoire in the fermented hot sauce world
Good resume of the necessary methods and ingredients and an excellent layout devoting a chapter to each international region/tradition. Lovely pictures too.

Excellent build, sound and mic quality for the price
I've had my first Lifechat headset for 10 years and hammered it to death - it still works fine but is now held together with sellotape and blutack. Sturdy and well made, excellent sound quality for the price and the mic is also v good - better accuracy on dictation than my bluetooth Jabra unit that cost north of £200. So I now have a new Lifechat unit and the quality is just as good (in fact the foam microphone wind screen improves sound). Heartily recommended.
