Persevere
Well worth reading, the author might be obscure today but so what? Certain modern-day readers might be intimidated by the writer's knowledge and erudition but people were better educated then so we should make efforts and be less passive. Gives a fascinating account of a neglected area of Italy by actually walking through it in the early c20th and unlike modern Britons, was fluent in languages. He is witty and always enthusiastic, sometimes the style can be a bit 'precious' but the book tells us a lot about Italian emigration, corruption, chaos that still seems very relevant to today's Europe or Italy.
Gives the reader a dose of verve and enthusiasm to find out things and to throw off laziness, we all need that!

Generally god, some reservations.
The teapot itself looks attractive, holds a litre which is a practical volume for 1-2 drinkers. It does not drip which is commendable as so many teapots do. Lid fits tightly and has a steam hole.
There are some traces of solder around the handles/spout so I hope it will be durable even though this is not the travelling type of teapot .
I have to say that the company that sells it, Grunwerg, makes a lot of its heritage and base in Sheffield so it is really a comedown to discover that this is not a British product but a made in China one, the price should therefore be cheaper.

Unrewarding
It is true that the Eastern Front 1914-18 is badly neglected by western scholars and this is shameful. But Stone's work is neither groundbreaking nor interesting, really turgid style yet flips about constantly. Tedious detail of plans give very little insight into the actualities of the war and its character. One has the suspicion that Stone like so many dull academics, saw an 'opportunity' to 'do' the Eastern Front and so he did it but not out of conviction or interest but out of self-interest.
Disappointing and rarely offers anything other than going through the academic motions. Stilted, lifeless and the conceit of the author is oppressive.
