Dyson DC01 Vacuum Cleaner
5 of 5 found this helpful We had owned our first Dyson DC01 model cleaner for over 15 years when it suuddenly became exceedingly noisy in operation. Over the 15 years we had had no real problems other than replacement belts and filters and had to buy a replacement flexible hose as ours had eventually split in places.We were entirely happy with its performance.
Looking on Ebay for a replacement we noted that many later Dyson models to the DC01 were on sale but adverts often stated that a replacement motor had been fitted. This did not inspire confidence as many seemed to have had a relatively short life compared to our DC01. We noted that spares were also higher in price and/or not so readily available. DC01 spares and reconditioned units were still readily available.
Working on the basis that I could strip my old unit for spares and still buy a reconditioned DC01 for about Β£45 (inclusive of 48hr delivery by courier) it was an easy decision to opt for one of these units.
I chose to buy from kdappliance services (seller ken9630_0 (e-mail kdappliances@aol.com) Theirs was not the cheapest DC01 on offer but I would always recommend buying used appliances etc from a Power Seller/ trader with excellent feed-back and who's adverts inspire confidence. The item arrived promptly and exactly as advertised and I also had very helpful correspondence from ken, the owner of kdappliance services.
We have had the replacement Dyson about 7 weeks now and it has performed as well, if not better, than our original did towards the end of its time. It has pretty heavy usage and copes with our dog's hair etc no problems.
I believe the DC01 was the first Dyson model of this type of cyclonic, bagless cleaner. Like many first models I believe it may have been built up to a standard rather than down to a price and I am not surprised that later models appear to have more problems or lesser life expectancy.
In conclusion I would highly recommend the DC01 and also ken at kdappliance services.
