An extraordinary collection of songs
How is it that I've only just discovered the music of Nick Drake? I was on the verge of my teens when this and his other two studio albums were released, but somehow I never heard of him until a month ago. His was a great talent, sadly cut short just five years after this, his debut album. The variety is incredible, from the sweet melody of "The Thoughts of Mary Jane" to the almost eerily prophetic "Fruit Tree". If I could take only one record onto that desert island then this would be it. If you've already bought it, listen to it again; if you haven't got it, buy it.
