A little gem of a manual lens
Good basic lens at minimum weight. Manual focal operation, meters correctly on old cameras e.g. F3 FE etc, and will also work in manual exposure on most modern Nikon digital cameras. Fully corrected, gives a good balance of sharpness, colour contrast, correction of aberrations for the weight and price. Reliable, can be used with extension tubes for close ups / macro. Not just a collectors item, when you want to take out your old film camera, put this little gem on it.

Nikon AI - great manual lenses to collect and to use.
All Nikon Nikkor AI lenses are well designed, well made, and practical. Mostly metal parts, put together with care, robust, often (but not always) multicoated, and now good value used. Collect them, make up a range to look at and handle, but above all use them. They fit all the old film cameras and work on many modern digitals too (it will always tell you in the camera manual, look under compatibility and AI/AI-s.) They are generally good quality optics, at least comparable with modern standard lenses. The Series E lenses are the budget range, also AI type, labelled Series E not Nikkor. This particular Nikkor 35mm f2.8 lens is a good example of the range. A little heavy for its size (being metal) but still easy to carry round. Sharp and reasonably contrasty. Been going 30 years; with care, expect another 30.

A classic manual film camera to collect and use.
The F3 is a top quality manual film camera from the 80s an 90s. It will go on for ever! Reliable, robust, solid. Compared with modern digital cameras it is heavy, cumbersome etc, and of course you have to put film in it and wait for the photos to be developed! I have always wanted one, so now I have one, and am well pleased. All I need is the old sports car to go with it, then I can and pose with both together! But seriously, if you want to try 35mm film for the first time, or return to it, this camera matched with any modest manual lens (or an autofocus one switched to manual) will take great photographs for ever.
