Effective as an alarm, but not so good as a light
The bulb is not very bright and doesn't have a very wide beam angle, it's also a very unsatifyingly cool colour temperature.
However, the reason I bought this is because the rubbish fridge in my rented house doesn't close properly half the time and we've lost so much food as a result.
For alerting me to an open/ajar door, it does a great job.
The timers for flashing light (10 secs) and alarm (20 secs) are too short and should be 30 secs and 1 minute in my opinion.

Too stiff but work OK
Bought these to replace the falling struts on my 24 year old car. Unfortunately these new ones are so very very stiff. Fitting wasn't easy as the only way I could compress them was to use ratchet straps cable tied on so they wouldn't ping off.
Once I managed to fit them, the boot now stays open. When you first open the boot, it is very stiff and you need to help it up then it opens OK. Closing it requires almost superhuman strength as these things are incredibly stiff. Still, at least I don't have to worry about the boot hitting me on the head any more
