An excellent radio with many features.
The Kenwood TK-8180 series is an excellent radio. The -K variant is 30 watts, 450-520 MHz, -K2 is 30 watts, 400-470 MHz, the H-K is 45 watts, 450-512 MHz, and the H-K2 variant is 45 watts, 400-470 MHz. The K2 variants are the most flexible, since they cover both the 70cm HAM band and GMRS. If you're only interested in GMRS, both the K and K2 will work equally well for those purposes.
This radio is Part 90 compliant, so while you cannot program it from the front panel, with the correct programming software (KPG-89D) and a USB programming cable (KPG-46), you can easily program this radio on the computer. With the latest firmware, these radios support DTMF, 2-tone, FleetSync, and MDC-1200. These radios were originally intended for business use, so there are countless features that be can configured to match the system you are using.
