Guitarists Finger Nails Using This Product
Brilliant Product. I purchased these for my husband who plays finger style guitar and needs to maintain very strong nails that will not break or chip under any circumstances.Here is how he does it himself so I will firstly state a disclaimer about any products used, caution the glue could cause irritation and other problems with sensitive finger nails. First he cleans his right thumb and 3 finger nails with acetone or other nail tip remover. He then gently passes a fine nail file over each nail only once just to make each nail surface slightly rough. Then cut some fibreglass double sided tape into small squares just a little larger than each nail. He the sticks each piece to the nails IMPORTANT he only covers about 1/2 of each nail, leaving the bottom half and cuticles untouched to maintain nail health and growth. Next he coats each piece of tape on the nails with special nail superglue being careful not to allow any in the edges of the skin or behind the nail tip. Do however try and make the edges of the tape contour with the nail snugly.Then after this 1st coat has dried solid on the nail he applies another coat and let's that dry. Once dry the excess tape is carefully cut off around the tip of the nail with nail cutters being careful not to cut the nail as well. He then places a piece of folded sandpaper across the 6 guitar strings and pretends to play by scratching the nail tips over the top of the sandpaper a few times to file the nail tips exactly to how his fingers will strike the strings.finally without disturbing the portion of nails that have been filed down exactly to suit his hand position on the guitar. He files the rest of each nail to smooth and round them off. Sometimes he will add 2 coats of nail hardener to each half covered nail and when dry he gently rubs a fine nail file over them to get rid of the shiny surface of the nail hardener. The result is nails so strong they should never break or crack and sound brilliant when playing the guitar. He maintain each nail tip by adding further spots of glue as required.He will renew them about every 4 weeks. By gently removing them with super glue remover. He never pulls them off as this can damage the nails. So that's my review of this product absolutely brilliant. Just imaging a fibreglass canoe being built then resin added to strengthen it . Would 100 % recommend this product regards.
