Cheap alternative for main dealer ignition barrel.
This is a good cheap alternative. The barrel comes with two blank keys. I took one key and with an electric drill made a 1/2 in. x 1/4 in. slot in the plastic fob, carefully removed the chip from my original key (YOU MUST NOT DAMAGE THE CHIP IN ANY WAY) and placed it in the slot and held in place with insulation tape. This enables you to use the new barrel to allow the car to start. The old original key with the chip removed will still operate the central locking.

I .Always use them in compression fittings, they seal a lot better and easier than the brass ones supplied with the fitting without the risk of cracking the nuts to get a seal.I swear by them.
