Full Pressurized Tank Replacement Kit that is easy for the do it yourselfer
this is the 2nd Flushmate pressurize tank replacement unit/kit I have installed in my home, last one in 2014 (original units installed in the late 1990s). this is a drop in replacement for the older cylindrical flushmate tanks with metal end caps with push button on the top center of the tank lid (e.g., no flush handle/lever on the front). all parts are supplied in this kit to replace an existing unit. instructions for this kit were updated from the one I bought in 2014 and were very easy to follow. you can buy the special tools that Flushmate provides but it is not required if you have worked with toilet tank/bowl replacement before. I beleive I paid about $40 more in 2018 than in 2014 for the same kit so that was a bit disappointing (normally, one might think replacement parts would go down in price especially when this part is more widely available from internet plumbing supply vendors now than before). I believe these pressurized tanks still provide one of the most powerful flushes available though a bit noisy and has overspray (if seat lid is not closed). I think the current pressurized units have better bowl designs but reduced water usage BUT with less pressurized flushing power. I have enough bathroom drain & plumbing stoppages already so I chose to replace my current tank rather than get one of the newer pressurized flush toilets. The only issue with replacement in an old toilet (bowl) is any water scale buildup in the bowl's shipon trap that might interfere with the full and smooth flow of the flush. I have scale build up in the bowl's trap which can't be completely removed / accessed to restore to like new condition. The only other part you may want for the Flushmate pressure replacement is a new water supply pipe and/or water supply shutoff valve. If you don't need to replace these then you should be able to replace in about 30-45 minutes (20 minutes the 2nd time you do it). You will need to lift the tank off the bowl and reseat it to remove the old pressure tank and install the new one. Lastly, not sure why I needed to replace the original pressure tanks in the first place (since these are just air pressure tanks). This one developed a small leak on the top of center of the tank. The pressure tank isn't exposure to anything (but air and water) to corrode it from the outside so the corrosion/weakness in the sides come from the inside out. Nonetheless, both did lasted over 15 years with only occasional maintenance (replaced 3 cartridges) needed.
