This scanner is an affordable high-quality instrument.

min: 35mm slides and negs only
plus plus: separate infrared channel to locate (and correct) dust, lint, scratches.
but: requires special software. Use free Vuescan scanning software for best results and ease of operation. Nikon scanning software requires proof of (new) purchase.
min: optical mirror accrues dust causing halo in scans, but can be cleaned by professionals. Always put unit back inside plastic bag. Scanner is good for 10+ years.
