How to rate a hard drive? Check with me in 5 years.
How do you review a hard drive? They either work at the specifications stated or they don't. I suppose I could mention the drive isn't the loudest I've installed and it was the correct dimensions and capacity (like every hard drive I've ever ordered and seen except counterfiets). The drive didn't seem to generate much heat, but no plain 80GB drive I've seen does. Ask me again in about 5-7 years if the drive is still working to get a better review. Western Digital seems to make fine drives but I'd buy a few other brands too...except Maxtor. These are great replacement drives for your average non-gaming system.

The drive was the correct capacity, size, speed and dimensions but the real deciding factor with hard drives is longevity. How long will this drive last? Seagates have been quite good for me in the past. This is a great, cheap replacement drive for anyone not too demanding with their computer use. Gamers know better than to get something this "small and slow" and serious file sharers/downloaders can get something larger for not too much for money). If you just do online banking, save some pictures, light gaming, email, social networking, word processing, messaging and other small tasks, this drive will probably serve you fine. Many people with 120-250GB drives waste 90% of the space and could easily get by with this 80GB. Tight on money and didn't use most of that 250GB that just went bad? This Seagate may be a good option. I'll buy another.
