Nokia 5800 Review
A nice phone with lots of caperbilities. Touch screen feedback works well and typing is a breeze, much better than on my old HTC Touch. The screen is plenty big enough and of good quality. The stylus is not really necessary and I have no trouble using my fingers. The side 'slide lock' feature works well and is very useful. Good connection settings control allows you to connect how you want simply. Large storage caperbilites (8/16gb) make it a possible replacement for my Ipod nano, although loading a large number of songs in one go causes it to spend a long time (1/2 hour) adding them into its library. Had some problems installing applications with "expired certificate" error which is very annoying, may be fixed in a firmware upgrade but the nokia software updator causes my phone to turn off and so cannot update it. I will have to take it to a nokia care point or to it 'over the airwaves' to try and resolve this. Nice sound quality in calls. Camera is acceptable, although may struggle slightly in low light. The standard 3.5mm socket is useful and the inbuilt FM radio works almost flawlessly, even if the software can be slightly confusing at times. Nokia maps is dissapointing and difficult to use, and will not provide satnav functionality without a subscription. Free worldwide maps can be downloaded to the phone, which could be useful in a few situations. Over all a very nice phone with a few minor niggles. Because of this I give it a 4/5. I would say it is an improvement over my previous HTC Touch, but just watch out if you plan to install lots of applications.
