Worth reading the original
Highly entertaining and quirky, just like the author's other books, several of which my daughter and I have enjoyed together. We were glad that I had taken the trouble to track down the original of this one while I still could; I can't imagine what the new (i.e. censored) version will be like, as the entire book will need to be rewritten, in order to avoid a repeat of the misplaced outrage which caused this version to be withdrawn by its publisher. Yes, medical conditions are of course very serious for those who are affected by them - and in some cases greater public awareness about them is needed. However, that does not automatically mean that any treatment of the subject (in this case nut allergies) which is less than 100% serious should be banned. I find it hugely unlikely that this book would ever induce children to attempt to poison other children, and it's a shame that in this age of ready litigation, the publishers have caved in under the pressure and pulled a thoroughly fun and creative book which was not doing any harm.
