The Fall : 50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong: 39 Golden Greats CD 2 discs (2008)

Very good indeed.
These two CDs present the cream of The Fall’s musical output over their long career. Much of the focus is on the 80s when, it could be argued, The Fall were at the height of their creativity. The singles are all here. Self described as ‘Northern rockabilly’ it is Mancunian post- punk that is both distinctive and timeless.
Mark E Smith delivers his distinctive acerbic, growling vocals over strong melodic bass hooks and angular shifting guitar. He certainly left an indelible mark on the uk ‘alternative’ music scene and became a self styles modern ‘hip priest’ for a generation.
It does not always make for easy listening and an acquired taste as can come across as very ‘garage band’. This compilation presents their most accessible work and the perfect introduction for new listeners.
By throwing together so many of their greatest tunes this album is really very - very nicely priced. The insert details each track and the sources from which it has all been put together.
Good value and a great comprehensive selection from what John Peel called; ‘The Mighty Fall’.
THE COMSAT ANGELS - WAITING FOR A MIRACLE VINYL LP NEW

Significant release.
The debut album from Comsat Angels (UK) provided a remarkable contribution to British Indie music in the 80’s. The expansive and atmospheric guitar driven songs became an important part of the soundtrack for the post-punk generation. They did not enjoy the recognition as acts such as Joy Division or The Cure yet had a profound influence and place in that musical universe.
