Sound quality and build quality are like night and day
1 of 1 found this helpful The sound quality is good. Not excellent, but good. Build quality is a mixed bag being that they're extremely comfortable to wear but have an inherent design flaw leading to the infamous breaking (snapping in two) of the headband itself.

Near excellence, but...
I bought this Deck because, prior to Hurricane Katrina, I owned this very same exact Model. It had features that I'd wanted for YEARS, so finally getting it (brand new from Crutchfield), I was ecstatic! Anyway, for nostalgic reasons I bought this one and it looks very good. Before I put in any Cassettes at all, I began the painstaking process of Cleaning the Record/Play Heads, Capstan and Pinch Rollers manually. After that, I ran a 'Wet Type' Cleaning Cassette through both Decks beginning with the Right Side. Cleaned both Directions. Then tried to do the Left Side. Forward DOES NOT WORKS. It yanks out the Tape every time. Running the Cleaner through in Reverse (Left Deck) ran smooth. It's only Forward on the Left Deck that's an issue. Don't know what I'm going to do. 😢
