Classic album
Great sounding album, has an edgy alternative feel while being dependent on the song, sing-alongable and danceable, or just beautifully spellbinding.

A good version
This version of Die Meistersinger often gets mentioned in lists of best recordings of this opera. I already have one conducted by Abendroth in the 1940s, but wanted something recorded on more modern equipment. There is so much going on in a 4-5 hour opera that one could spend years listening to all the recordings and picking over what's better in this one or better in that one - all I can say is that the sound and singing are great, nothing detracted from the radiance of this music.
