Better than its big brother, in this application.
I purchased the Acousimass 3 lll Subwoofer to suppliment a pair of Spendor LS 3/5As, taking over from its bigger brother, the more expensive Acoustimass 5 series ll that 'left a hole' in the mid bass of the spectrum. The 'roll off' of the cheaper Series lll is somewhat higher and it hooks up the Spendors 'splendidly'.
Audiophiles everywhere who swears by their beloved LS 3/5As of whatever make should try this. It is a relatively economic purchase to work with the expensive main units and it takes time and patience to find it a suitable location to integrate into the system. It cannot be 'hidden' in a corner'.

Exactly what I need.
2 of 2 found this helpful Exactly what I need! I had a collection of 78s that hadn't been played for years due to the lack of a player. I wasn't going to troll for a 60/70 year old record changer that might need lots of fixing. And this came along. Never mind the lack of anti skate. My 78s have no need for it. The 5 gm playing weight is just fine, remembering that lacquer pressings started life having to hold up a speaker weighing in terms of pounds by the tip of a steel needle. As there was no choice of cartridge, the factory can pre set the azimuth and VTF to suit the cartridge that is provided. The sound is great. Needs very little e.q. to update half century plus recordings. The tiny speakers on the plinth are great too; just don't crank them all the way up!
The dedicated 78 stylus is half the price of the entire turntable. But the combination is arguably cheaper than a 70 year old record changer that needs work.
So, yes. This is perfect for me. Let's hope it lasts long enough to transfer my entire collection of 78s.

Great, but not for me.
1 of 1 found this helpful I have had a red one for a few years now. I love it but it is getting old. When I saw a black one that "looked" the same, I bought it. However, it is quite a different hat. It is not even made in the same country. Please see attached photo and notice the differences.... narrower front panel, the overall height and the pointy top. No, I am not sending it back to reclaim my $10. It is hanging on my wall as a token of my appreciation of the Fender brand.
