Great little radios
Pair these things with 3.3v Arduino pro minis and you will be on your way to creating the ideal low power sensor network for yourself.
So far I have found them to be cheap and dependable - ideal if you are something of an electronics newbie, so cheap they are almost disposable. Be warned though, you will have to do a lot of reading - and watch videos too.
None of the safety net of Xbees, nut none of the voodoo either. Neither the payload nor the familiarity of Wifi (ESP***s) but not the power consumption either.
You are a bit "closer to the metal" with these things, but your RF comprehension will likely to be better as a cause of that.
They may appear quirky to the newbie, but the best RF24 Arduino library has get you going out of the box examples which you can always roll back to.
The price is negligible in terms of currency, but the real cost will be in lost time - however if you stick with it you will have the ability to knock up a 20 to 30 sensor network for relative peanuts.
That could be priceless depending on your use-case.
