Superb read
An easy read about the best times in rallying by a competitor who was there in the thick of it. Chris Sclater was one of several drivers always knocking on the door of a factory drive, something he achieved where others failed. A book that took me right back to the golden age of rallying.

Massive sensor is the key
This G1X has all of the same strong design points and features of the G range but is set apart by the very large sensor, which is larger than some digital SLR's and because of that image quality, especially if large prints are needed, is its real strong point.
The criticism of mediocre macro close focus is a fact but as macro is not that important to me, its not an issue and the other criticism of a slow auto focus, has not been evident to me. if you need superfast autofocus, a compact, I'd suggest is not for you anyway.
All in all a brilliant camera.
