NOT OIL PASTELS!!!
This set of pastels are hard chalky pastels Not Oils!

Easy does it!
It was very difficult trying to find a sharpener that gave a good point on my pastel pencils of many kinds.
I was no good at using a knife, so I had to try different sharpeners until I found this one.
The unit's its self feels (fragile) For the lack of a better word.
I am very careful while pulling out the face and inserting the pencil.
Once in, just 1-2 cranks of the handle are all it needs to get a perfect point or blunt end, depending on what setting you choose.
Anything more than 2 turns will break it!
So as I said, be careful with the unit and shapen those pastel pencils!!
I usually sharpen a graphite pencil after 7-10 pastel pencils.
Just to clear away any pastel stuck in the blades.
I definitely recommend this sharpener.

One of the best "firm" pastels for your collection.
Any soft pastel artist needs to have some hard pastels in their collection!
I recommend and use the Prismacolor Premier Color Sticks!
12 is a good start, and you can add to them when you want.
