Camera thinks it is a battery and slowly discharges

The camera thinks it is a battery. When it is first installed in the A6000 it indicates 52%. As time goes by it slowly shows it discharging until finally it indicates battery discharged. If you turn off the camera and remove the adapter and restart, it shows 52% again. Then the cycle repeats as the camera shows it slowly discharging until once again the camera stops with a battery discharged error. I will try to return it.
