Great Book on Incredible UFO Sightings
1 of 1 found this helpful It has been quite a while since I’ve read a UFO book that deals mostly with sightings, but Night Siege: The Hudson Valley UFO Sightings, is very convincing not only because of the detail provided by the witnesses, but also because Dr. J. Allen Hynek, the former consultant to the Air Force’s Project Blue Book UFO research program was involved in these sighting investigations. This is the second edition of Night Siege, which has been expanded to include some of the aftermath of the UFO sightings. In several cases, witnesses had close encounters of the third and fourth kind, which includes abduction experiences and details regarding UFO occupants.
The book chronicles a prolonged series of UFO sightings and close encounters from late 1982 through 1995. The total number of reported sightings, some involving hundreds of witnesses, eventually totaled 7,046. Many were low-altitude, tree-top level sightings witnessed by police officers, military service members, and security guards. The sightings centered in the Hudson Valley in New York and in parts of Connecticut. What was seen? That is the ultimate mystery.
A huge, “boomerang” or triangular-shaped craft with multiple super-bright, multi-colored lights appeared over and over again. The object was reported to be between 200 and 300 feet across, with a dark superstructure at times visible behind the flashing lights. Observers routinely became frightened when they finally grasped the immense size of the object, which many said was the "size of a football field" or bigger. The craft was usually reported to be completely silent, although some witnesses detected a soft hum. The object moved at a slow speed; slow enough that some observers were able to keep up with it by walking under the craft as it slowly drifted across the sky. Many saw the object hover at a low altitude and flash a beam of light down on witnesses and several times into lakes or ponds in the Hudson Valley.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) claimed that these sightings were either the result of small planes flying in formation with “Chinese lanterns” hanging from their wings, formations of ultra-light planes, blimps, “hoaxers”, or expert pilots using souped-up military aircraft. One witness, a commercial airline pilot, stated, “This aircraft-in-formation theory sounds to me like the prattling of idiots.”
There are many well-documented incidents detailed in this book, including information about possible alien abduction of UFO witnesses. This is an excellent account of an incredible series of UFO sightings and I highly recommend this book if you are interested in this sort of thing.

This Is An AWESOME Roller Shade
This is the SECOND roller shade I’ve purchased and they rock!
I bought these for my patio gazebo because we get major sun on the south and west facing sides. I liked this model because it has a hand crank to raise and lower it without cords or springs. There is a metal wand with hinges that attaches to the crank mechanism on the right end of the shade. You bend the wand a little and it becomes a crank. The mechanism is smooth and easy to use.
The fabric is a nice color and a good weight, but not so heavy that it blocks all the light. It is heavy enough that you don’t get glaring sunlight in your eyes when the shade is down. The shade has a round metal bar at the bottom that has small bungee cords with a plastic ball on each end. The balls fit into a plastic receiver to hold the shade in place if it is windy. I attached the receivers to the legs of my gazebo and it works perfectly. The shade is made by CoolarooUSA.com. It is a quality product.
I want to mention that you only get one set of bungee/receivers with the shade. I bought two more sets of bungee cord/receivers from CoolarooUSA because I wanted to be able to attach the end of the shade at a halfway point to block sunlight and all the way to the floor to block wind. Having two points to attach the bottom of the shade is great for my gazebo. Please see the attached photos so you’ll better understand what I’m talking about.
Installation was easy. There are just two brackets and the bungee receivers that you install with Phillips head screws. It’s a small thing, but the package only comes with four screws total, two per bracket. For better security I wanted four screws holding them, not just two, so I used some of my own screws when I installed the shade brackets. I would recommend this.
Everyone who has seen the roller shade has been impressed and commented on how nice it is. More importantly, I'm impressed with it. I HIGHLY recommend this roller shade. You won’t be disappointed.

Beautiful Mermaid
The mermaid figure is beautiful. Sometimes cast iron figures can be very rough and the end result is grotesque. Not so with this figure. I wouldn't call it finished, but it is smoother than others I've seen. I like the look of it.
I did have to bend the small wire loop at the end of the chain where the mermaid sits so that when mounted against a flat surface it would lay flush. Not really a problem, but something I would recommend doing.
This is a nice piece and I'm happy with her. She adds something to our patio.
