Daniel Ligorio - Manuel de Falla: Piano Music, Vol. 1
22 Aug, 2019
Eminently recommendable.
This pair of CDs is probably the first to present Falla's piano works in their entirety. Though Alicia de Larrocha recorded the better known pieces for Decca in 1973, some of the early works are here recorded for the first time.
The performances and sound are excellent. The artist evidently knows and loves the music. Both these CDs are eminently recommendable.

ANDRE ISOIR-Bach - LOuvre Pour Orgue CD NEW
14 Aug, 2019
Remarkable value for money
Isoir (1935-2016) was a very able and highly respected organist; so it is good to have his complete recordings of Bach available so very cheaply. The recordings were made between 1976 and 2000, but mainly in the digital age. Apart from the two bonus CDs, he uses six different organs (two French, three German and one in Luxembourg) all of which are eminently suited to the repertoire and superbly recorded.
The booklet (in English, French, German and Japanese) includes specifications and pictures of the instruments but - reasonably enough - does not discuss the music. It does, however, give a glowing account of Isoir's career and skills. The price I paid works out at less than £1.50 per CD, which makes this set extraordinarily good value for money.

Night Passage [DVD]

A good DVD
A good example of its genre, with music by Dmitri Tiomkin (1875-1979).
