Corky's War
I'm not much into diaries and this book is set out as a diary covering Percy Cawkwell's experiences in 1915 -1919, but what a fascinating and easy read. Ronald Fairfax has done a great job of telling the story of an ordinary Tommy without hyperbole and the result is a compelling insight into history from an ordinary bloke who just got on with his job.

I liked the first lock I bought so bought another.
The combination is resettable, easy to use if you have bad sight or sausage fingers and the lock sits conveniently around the seat pillar when not needed.
It seems reasonably robust and no one's nicked my bile ......yet.

Canon Ixus. The nicest digital pocket camera ever?
I had a Canon Ixus 500 several years ago. Took it all over the world. I knew it was a great little camera but I sold it as I wasn't sure how much longer it was going to last. I was attracted to the beauty of the Panasonic Lumix, a nice enough camera, but bulkier and just not as convenient as my Ixus. I was about to go walking in the Dolomites, I had to travel light so I decided another Ixus was the best option. I like its small size, I like its metal case, I like its view finder, I like its low light capabilities, I like its small screen, I like the quality of its lens and prints. It is a wee bit slow to react and I've noted the large memory card is not accepted by modern computers so it is showing its age a bit, but I'm really pleased I have one again. Anyone want to buy a Lumix?
