Hot Tub Covers

Hot Tub Covers

Hot tub covers are traditionally placed over the top of a hot tub when not in use. They are used to reduce heat loss and prevent dirt from entering.

Hot tub covers come in a variety of sizes, hardness levels, colours and styles to suit your needs.

Types of Hot Tub Cover

There are several types of hot tub cover, all with varying features and uses:

  • Rolling Covers - soft covers often made of vinyl, thin foam and a plastic vapour barrier. This soft, rolling cover is best suited to indoor hot-tubs, or ones that are used often. The covers are flexible and so can be stored away easily when not in use and then replaced.
  • Solar Covers - keep the water in the hot tub at a much-desired high temperature by insulating the water underneath. They provide protective insulation for your hot tub. Although not generally considered the best protection, a solar cover will keep the water warm as well as clean.
  • Double Hinge Covers (Tanneau Covers) - harder than rolling or solar covers, providing much better protection for your hot tub. As they are a hard-shell cover they are best suited to outdoor hot tubs. A defining characteristic of this cover (aside from the protection it offers) is the double-hinged middle. This central hinge allows the cover to be opened on either side of the hot tub, allowing for easy access without having to remove the whole thing.
  • Seasonal Covers - unlike the other variations, seasonal covers cover the entire hot tub as opposed to just the top. These types of covers are designed for outdoor units during the colder winter months to protect the hot tub from freeze and thaw processes that may occur at the very low temperatures. Seasonal covers are also built to withstand the weight of heavy snowfall.

Caring for your cover

You need to ensure that the cover for your hot tub is cleaned and maintained just as regularly as the hot tub itself.

To clean your cover:

  • Remove the cover from the hot tub
  • Spray with warm water to remove any grit
  • Scrub gently with warm, soapy water then rinse one side at a time
