Sony Compact Digital Cameras With Date and Time Stamp

There aren't many compact digital cameras in the market that are able to date and time stamp an image for immediate upload to the hard disk, but Sony has produced a few.

With compact digital cameras that don't have this feature, it is still possible to add a date and time stamp on an image once it has been downloaded to a computer. Using a suitable software package and a capable printer, you can add a date and time stamp in the editing process prior to printing.

As Sony are not wanting to manufacture digital compact cameras with this functionality in the future, they have developed an imaging software package or you can use the docking station.

Out of the range of Sony digital compact cameras , only the Sony RX100 APS-C sized sensor camera has the function to add a date and/or time stamp. Although the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-V range of cameras are marketed as being able to add the date and/or time stamp, this is not retained on the image during the downloading process to a computer.

Sony RX100 features

The Sony RX100 compact digital camera has a 1.0 type sensor and is larger than most compact cameras. It can take photos up to ISO 6400, allowing for clear images in night shots and the Exmor sensor produces high quality images. The Auto ISO is able to determine the best setting for the camera in all conditions, or you can set it yourself.

The zoom is a 3.6x optical zoom Carl Zeiss lens with a focal range of 28-100mm for a conventional 35mm camera. The maximum aperture at the wide end of the zoom of f/1.8 is good, and decreases to f/4.9 at the tele end. The large 1" 20.2MP Exmor R sensor is bigger than many other cameras, allowing the capture of more detail and the ability to crop into images. The large sensor also allows for movie capture modes including full HD in either an MP4 or AVCHD format.

Sony's SteadyShot is also included with Standard and Active shooting modes, as well as full manual (PASM) controls.

The 3" 1,229k-dot display is not fixed but is tiltable and can be pulled away from the camera body to be able to view the image from different angles. The screen also has White Magic technology which provides clear image reproduction. The Multi Interface Shoe feature allows you to connect an external flash, remote control or electronic viewfinder and WiFi connectivity is also available.
