Weapons policy

Most types of weapons are not allowed on eBay. Those we do allow must follow our policy.

For safety concerns and in order to follow laws and regulations, we restrict the kinds of weapons and accessories that can be sold on eBay.

What is the policy?

The following or similar items are not allowed:

  • Hand weapons such as: Brass knuckles in any form, leaded canes, nightsticks, nunchakus, sansetsukons, or throwing weapons
  • Weapons such as: Blow or dart guns, flare guns, potato guns, tear gas, pepper spray, mace, stun guns, tasers, swords, crossbows, "Kusari gama", "kyoketsu shoge", "manrikigusari", or "kusari"
  • Any offensive weapon as defined by Section 141 of the Criminal Justice Act 1988 (UK) or the Firearms and Offensive Weapons Act 1990 (Ireland) as these statutes may be amended from time to time

Training or practice weapons such as batons, nunchakus, and throwing stars may be listed as long as they are made of rubber foam, dense foam or foam with plastic interior tubes.

Activity that doesn't follow eBay policy could result in a range of actions including for example: administratively ending or cancelling listings, hiding or demoting all listings from search results, lowering seller rating, buying or selling restrictions, and account suspension. All fees paid or payable in relation to listings or accounts on which we take any action will not be refunded or otherwise credited to your account.

Visit Seller Help to find details of any policy issues with your account or listings, and get the information you need to quickly resolve them.

Why does eBay have this policy?

We take our role in community safety seriously, and in accordance with government regulations and international laws, we prohibit the sale of certain weapons on eBay.
