eBay Live selling fees

The illustrative example below breaks down the fees into a commission fee and payment processing fee to provide greater clarity and simplify comparison with other live selling platforms.

How we calculate the final value fee for eBay Live sales

Two types of fees apply to each item sold:

• The commission fee covers eBay’s platform services, including stream support and selling tools, applications and features etc., and is calculated as a percentage of the final sale price including shipping and tax.

• The payment processing fee covers payment handling, transaction processing, per order fee and related services involved in completing a sale on eBay Live.

Both fees are charged on the total amount of the sale as one amount, including the item price, any handling charges, shipping costs and taxes collected from the buyer, sales tax, and any other applicable fees.

You will be charged the two fees as a combined fee, as follows:

• Coins, Bullion, Sneakers: 

  • 6.42% (4% + 2.42%) on the first £2,500 (4% x £2,500 = £100 cap on the commission fee) of the sale

  • then 2.42% on the portion over £2,500. No commission fee is paid on the portion over £2,500 as the £100 cap has already been reached. Only the 2.42% payment processing fee applies

  • plus £0.30 per order fee

• All other categories:

  • 8.42% (6% + 2.42%) on the first £1,667 (6% x £1,667 = £100 cap on the commission fee) of the sale

  • then 2.42% on the portion over £1,667

  • plus £0.30 per order fee

What qualifies as an eBay Live transaction

An eBay Live transaction is a purchase, or commitment to purchase, that is attributed to an eBay Live event. These transactions qualify for eBay Live fees.

Gross merchandising value (GMV)¹ generated via eBay Live includes purchases, and commitments to purchase, made during a Live event, as well as all Case Break transactions.

Purchases made after the event will no longer be attributed to eBay Live but instead accounted for as an eBay marketplace order. These orders will be subject to the eBay marketplace fees.

This update improves consistency in reporting and does not impact how your items are surfaced.

^1. Gross merchandising value (GMV) is defined as the total monetary value of goods or services sold through an e-commerce platform over a specific period.

Transactions not attributed to eBay Live

The following transactions are not considered eBay Live transactions:

• Purchases or commitments to purchase after a live event ends
• Standard marketplace purchases outside a live event
• Transactions attributed to eBay marketplace (non-eBay Live) under standard marketplace rules

Previously, certain post-event commitments created within 4 days after a live event could still qualify for Live attribution. Under the updated definition, post-event commitments are attributed to eBay marketplace (non-eBay Live).

Insertion fees

There is currently no insertion fee for eBay Live listings. If your listing starts within the eBay Marketplace and moves to eBay Live, eBay will credit the insertion fee no later than 30 calendar days from the date that the listing was imported to Live event.

Promoted Listings General ad fees

Promoted Listings General helps sellers reach more buyers and increase visibility for eligible listings across eBay, while only paying an ad fee when a promoted item sells.

When it comes to eBay Live transactions, there is a specific fee policy for listings using a general campaign strategy.

• eBay does not charge ad fees for listings, promoted using a general strategy, that sell via eBay Live.
• In some cases, the ad fee may be charged before the transaction is identified as an eBay Live sale. If that happens, eBay will credit the ad fee back after the transaction is reclassified as an eBay Live transaction.
• Exclusions: This policy applies exclusively to listings promoted using a general strategy. Other advertising products, such as "cost-per-click" ads, are not eligible for this fee waiver.
