Selling with the eBay app

With the eBay mobile app it's easy to create, edit, and monitor your listings. You can also relist items, and provide tracking information – all while on the go.

The eBay app is available for both Android and iOS, enabling you to respond quickly to questions from bidders or buyers. To download the app for your device, select from:

Mobile friendly listings

Your listings are designed to look great on mobile devices. Here are some guidelines to bear in mind when creating your listing:

  • Include the correct product identifiers and item specifics
  • Use bullet points in item descriptions so information is easy to scan
  • Include your postage, payment and returns information in the applicable fields
  • Keep the formatting simple with a black font, size 12-14px, on a white background for easy readability
  • Upload up to 12 images using our photo uploader. Don't add images to your item description as they might not work well on mobile
  • Don’t use active content, including JavaScript, Flash and form actions

Item descriptions on mobile

On mobile devices we show a shorter version of your description, called a mobile description summary.

By default, we’ll automatically generate these description summaries based on your full item description.

For item descriptions that are less than 800 characters and use basic HTML, CSS or text-only, we’ll display the entire description.

Checking how your listings look on mobile

Always check how your listings look on your own mobile to see if there’s anything you could improve.

Simply enter the item number (you can find this in Selling section) for the listing you want to check.

Another option is Device Mode in the Chrome Internet browser. Go to one of your listings and press Ctrl+Shift+M to see how the current page looks on mobile.

Creating a listing in the app

To create a listing in the app, go to the Selling page and select List an item. Beyond the usual features you would find on your laptop or desktop, you'll find some additional useful shortcuts:

  • Scan your item's barcode to add product details automatically from our catalogue
  • Snap photos and add them directly to your listing

Listings will sync across your devices, so you can start a listing on the app and finish it on your laptop or desktop, or vice versa.

You'll need to accept PayPal as a payment method for listings you create with the mobile app.

We regularly update and improve our app, so keep an eye on the Google Play Store or iOS App Store to make sure you're always using the most up-to-date version.

Troubleshooting on the eBay app

If you run into a problem using the eBay app, here are some things to try:

  • Can't launch the app: Check for updates in the app store and download the latest version. If you already have the latest version but can't launch it, try uninstalling the app and then reinstalling – you won't lose any of your account information if you reinstall the app. You'll see all of your information when you sign in
  • Photos won't upload: Try rebooting your mobile device. If that doesn't solve the issue, uninstall and then reinstall the app
  • Can't log in with your eBay username or password: Double-check that your information is being entered correctly. Autofill and autocorrect can sometimes enter things you weren't intending
  • You can't create listings: Check that you've selected accepted payment options

You can create listings quickly and easily with the eBay app – simply fill out the listing form on the Selling page.
