We charge two main types of fees when you sell on eBay - a listing fee (also known as an insertion fee) and a final value fee when your item sells. For a monthly subscription, you can also run your own eBay Shop. The fees and benefits for shops vary depending on the type of subscription you choose.
Fees are charged at a different rate if you're not registered as a business on eBay, or if you want to sell vehicles on eBay. Read our articles on:

When you list an item for sale on eBay, we charge a fee per listing. Listing fees (also known as insertion fees) are non-refundable, even if your item doesn't sell. The amount you're charged per listing depends on whether or not you have a Shop subscription, and the level of Shop you subscribe to if you do have a subscription.
Listing and optional listing upgrade fees also apply each month for Good 'Til Cancelled listings and every time you relist an item.
Shop subscription benefits and fees
You don't need to have a Shop subscription to sell as a business on eBay. However, an eBay Shop can help you reach the right customers, manage orders and build your brand. Your buyers can learn about you and your business and can browse your items through a customisable shopfront, and you can benefit from reduced fees.
Other benefits of subscribing to a Shop on eBay.co.uk include:
- A free monthly allowance of fixed price and auction-style listings. See the table below to see how many you receive based on the package you choose
- Capping of final value fees in certain categories
- Access to eBay marketing tools including Seller Hub Promotions*** and customisable email campaigns
- A customisable shopfront and a unique URL that you can use in your marketing
- If you subscribe to a Featured or Anchor Shop you'll also get:
- Monthly credit to spend on listing upgrades
- A voucher each month to spend on eBay-branded packaging supplies
- An allowance of free Good 'Til Cancelled listings in 13 countries for sellers whose registered address is in the UK or Ireland. Find out more about selling internationally
- Anchor Shop subscribers also receive an invitation to eBay Concierge, an enhanced level of service to make selling easier
When you open an eBay Shop, you'll choose a Shop package: Basic, Featured or Anchor. The package that's right for you will depend on the volume you sell and how you plan to grow your business.

Fees for optional listing upgrades
Certain features, like adding a subtitle, do incur an additional fee, but these optional listing upgrades can help your listing stand out and attract more buyers.
We charge optional listing upgrade fees per listing regardless of whether your item sells, and they're not included in your allocation of free listings
Upgrade | Description | Upgrade fee per listing |
Reserve Price |
Set a reserve price (minimum £50) and your item won't be sold if bids don't reach that amount. It gives you the peace of mind that your item won't be sold for less than you're willing to sell it for. |
4% of the reserve price (max. £150 per item), whether or not the item sells. |
Buy it now price |
Give your buyers the option to purchase before an auction-style listing ends, for a set price. A Buy it now price gives you the possibility of a quick sale for the right money. |

Subtitle |
Make your item stand out from the crowd with a line of additional text that appears beneath your listing title in search results. |

Gallery Plus |

International Site Visibility |
Maximise your item's visibility in search results on eBay.com and eBay.ca. If your listing is eligible for this upgrade and not already appearing on these sites, you'll have the option to add it on as part of the listing experience. Make sure you've specified postage options for the US and Canada so buyers will know what international P&P will cost. |

Final value fees
When your item sells, you pay a final value fee. How much you pay varies by category and is calculated as a percentage of the total amount of the sale (which is the item price, taxes plus any postage costs). See our table below for a list of final value fees by category and any exceptions that apply.
If your item doesn't sell you usually don't pay a final value fee. However, if you offer or reference your contact information to another user or ask a buyer for their contact information, in the context of buying or selling outside of eBay, we'll charge a final value fee for introducing you to the buyer. In this case, the final value fee is calculated as a percentage based on the higher of the fixed price, auction start price, Buy it now price, Reserve price or the price identified between the buyer and seller.
For items that have been listed in two categories, the higher of the two final value fees will be charged. For example, if you've listed an item in both the Music category (which has an 8% final value fee) and the Musical Instruments category (which has a 9% final value fee), when it sells you'll be charged the higher 9% final value fee.
Sellers whose performance level is Below Standard on the 20th of a month incur an additional 4 percentage points fee on top of the final value fee on sales in the following calendar month. For example, an 8% final value fee would increase to 12%. While we cap final value fees in some categories and if the seller has a Shop subscription, those caps do not apply to the additional 4 percentage point fee. The additional fee is calculated on the total amount of the sale. Above Standard and eBay Top-rated Sellers are not impacted by this additional fee.
For opened "Item not as described" requests, sellers are assessed compared to their peers in the service metrics dashboard in Seller Hub. Sellers with "Very high" rates of "Item not as described" requests opened against them in the evaluation on the 20th of a month will incur an additional 4 percentage points fee on top of the final value fees applicable to sales on the relevant eBay sites and categories during the following calendar month. For example, a final value fee in the affected eBay sites and categories would increase from 7% to 11%. In some cases we cap final value fees depending on the category or when a seller has a Shop subscription. However, this additional 4 percentage points fee is not subject to category caps and will be calculated on the total amount of the sale. If a seller is rated "Very high" in a category, but has fewer than 10 such requests opened against them or their "Item not as described" rate is under 1% in a specific category during the evaluation period, they will not be subject to this increased fee.
Final value fee category caps only apply to sellers with an eBay Shop subscription. If you're an international seller listing on eBay.co.uk, you'll need to subscribe to a Shop on eBay.co.uk, or a higher level than Basic Shop on the eBay site of your registered address to benefit from final value fee category caps.

Final value fee credits
If for some reason the buyer ends up not paying, you need to either cancel the sale or report it as an unpaid item in order to be eligible for a final value fee credit.
Fees for promoting your listings
To give greater exposure to the items you sell, you can create a promoted listing ad campaign. It gets your listing in front of more buyers, and you'll only be charged for the ad if it has helped your item sell. Promoted Listings is available to Above standard and Top rated sellers with recent sales activity. Learn more about our Promoted Listings Terms of Service.

Other terms and conditions
We always want to make sure we're clear about the fees we charge, so here are some details you should be aware of:
- All fees displayed on this page are exclusive of VAT
- If you use supplemental services, such as buying and printing postage labels through eBay, you'll pay any costs or fees associated with those services. Details of the costs or fees will be on your monthly invoice and we'll charge the payment method you've set up on your seller account
- Listing fees and optional listing upgrade fees apply to each listing you create, are charged at the time of listing or relisting, as applicable, and are non-refundable. Fee amounts are based on the terms in effect when the listing goes live and when it renews. If you select more than one category for your listing, listing and optional listing upgrade fees apply for each category
- The fees on this page apply to listings on eBay.co.uk. If you list an item on another eBay site (for example, eBay.com or eBay.com.au), the fees for that site will apply
- If your payment method fails or your account is overdue, we reserve the right to limit or suspend the services which eBay provides to you
- There may be instances when your listing doesn't immediately appear in search results. This can take up to 24 hours. We can't guarantee exact listing durations
- Seller fees don't purchase exclusive rights to web pages on eBay. We may, at our sole discretion and without consent from, or payment to sellers, display third-party advertisements (including links and references thereto) and listings from other sellers on any eBay page
- If you subscribe to an eBay Shop, please read our Shops terms and conditions
- We'll charge you for your Shop every month until you cancel your subscription. Please read our Shops terms and conditions to find out how fees are charged when you change your Shop level or cancel your subscription.
