Viewing your account balance

Your eBay account balance shows your current balance of any fees from your recent selling activity. It also shows any past due amounts.

If you're looking for more information about the transactions that make up your balance, you can view all the details at the bottom of your Account activity - opens in new window or tab page. You can sort your transactions by item number, date, or transaction type, and the different tabs give you a view into your fees, credits, payments and refunds, as well as promotional savings.

Tip
If we show your balance as "temporarily unavailable", it means we're currently creating your monthly invoice. You can check again in a few days.

Debit balance

A debit balance means you owe that amount to eBay; you'll find the due date on your invoice. For help with paying eBay fees, including automated and one-time payments, read our article on setting up and changing your payment method.

Credit balance

If you have a credit balance on your invoice, you'll see a minus sign in front of the number. This means that eBay owes you that amount. 

If your account is in credit, you can:

  • Ask us for a refund
  • Use the credit towards your future selling fees
  • Ask us to transfer the balance to another one of your accounts

Why does eBay owe me money?

There are a few ways your account can be in credit, such as:

  • You paid more than the amount owed in selling fees
  • There was a duplicate payment
  • You received a fee credit after you paid your invoice, such as a final value fee or shop fee credit
 

How can I get a refund?

PayPal refunds

To request a refund to your PayPal account, please contact us with the following details:

  • eBay username
  • PayPal account holder name and user ID
  • PayPal email address

It usually takes 3 to 5 business days for a PayPal refund to go through.

Credit/debit card or bank account refunds

To request a refund to your credit/debit card or bank account, we need you to confirm we've got the right details. Here's what to do:

  1. Make sure your personal information is up to date
  2. Update your automated payment method if needed
  3. Contact us to request a refund

Refunds to a credit/debit card or bank account can take up to 30 days.

 

My account is suspended or restricted, how can I request a credit refund?

You may be unable to receive a refund if your eBay account is suspended or restricted. You'll need to resolve the issue with your account, and may need to verify your identity, before you can claim your refund.

 

I've forgotten my username or password

If you've forgotten your username, you can sign in using your email address.

If you've forgotten your password, you can reset it. Alternatively, you can request a temporary password to be sent to your mobile phone, provided you've registered your number on your eBay account.

 

Can I use my credit balance to start selling again?

Why can I no longer see my credit balance?

When we contacted you regarding your credit balance, we noted that if you didn't take action prior to a specific date, your credit balance would no longer show on your account.

However, you can contact us and we'll issue you a refund, or apply it against any new selling fees you've incurred.
