Good basic tablet fantastic price and offers good expansion/customization

These android tablets are produced in China and are not affiliated to any particular company so features and support are likely to be limited and not up to the standards that a fully supported product will have. You have to remember though that you are only paying 1/4-1/3 of the price of an equivalent fully supported tablet, so you can forgive quite a lot for that much of a discount.

From my perspective I bought the tablet as a games/learning/media device for a 7 year old child and to take on holiday for internet access and to archive photos and videos from digital cameras and for those uses it works extremely well. Your mileage may vary. I am also interested in learning how an android deice can be customized and adapted so I wanted a cheap development device for testing.

The hardware is a 1GHz ARM7 single core chip with 512 MB which is quite adequate to drive the 10 inch 1024x600 pixel screen, and can play mp4/h264 encoded videos at 720p easily. the software is Android 2.2 (Froyo) with some additions like flash 10 which in general works well. My flytouch was advertised as being Android 2.3 in the splash screen, however I do not believe it is.

Battery life is reasonable at 2-4 hours depending on what you are doing. Turning wifi off helps quite a lot.

The external RJ45 internet cable I find is a great option and wifi works pretty well.

Internally the disk is an 8GB sd drive which leaves good room for your own apps. Expansion is excellent (much better than more expensive tablets) as you can add an external micro sd disk (up to 32GB) and 2 usb slots, which can support large drives or sticks.

The usb slots also support a mouse or external keyboard which is very usefull if you tire of the on-screen android keyboard, and may allow in the future to add other usb devices to use the tablet in new ways.

The hardware is of reasonable quality the only issue I have seen is that the wif-fi network is ocasionally lost which I have read on forum may be due to the layout of the internal cabling.

The resistive screen is the biggest drawback which although quite quick to respond only accepts single presses and if the application requres some subtle input it may be tricky to get right. Using the supplied stylus or an external mouse makes this a lot better. Visually the screen is bright and sharp, no complaints there.

The audio volume is too low to be usefull in a normal noisy environment, however there is a 3.5mm stereo jack for headphone or an external speaker.

The external gps antenna does receive signals and the google maps applications does appear to work, however a 3g connection would be required to use a navigator whilst driving so I would pretty much discount using it like that, unless you can download a map cache from google (not tried).

3g usb dongles are reported to work, I have not tried it personally.

Froyo can be rooted if you want to do real backups or have more control over the installed software, I have not tried any custom roms.

Flash works well with youtube, however more complicated sites such as CBBC flash games, or moshi monsters or BBC iplayer do not work for me.

Android market is half-functional as you can search and install free apps, however some free apps are not available and none of the apps which require payment are available. This is because Google does not recognise the device.

Overall - Good basic tablet fantastic price and offers good expansion/customization possiblities, not for everyone though.

Great value for the money

It is very good for what you pay.
Size is good and easy to hold with one hand.
About the battery I can't say because I use it 2 days now. But I can tell about 3-4 hours on full load.
What about features? Android 2.3
There is some Chinese keyborad language pre installed that I can not remove but I hope I will do it in the future.
The viewing angle of the screen is not so good but you can't except something more for about 100 GBP.
Conclusion. For 115 Euros it is Excellent.

Awful product! Save up for a proper iPad the Apple iPad!

I bought this as a cheap alternative to see if I could get on with Android. Well the answer is simple, Android sucks in comparison to the Apple iOS. Truly awful UI and complicated file system. So slow as to be virtually unusable! A terrible copy of the Apple iOS. I will be replacing with an iPad as soon as possible. The iPad is worth the extra, no shadow of a doubt. I should add I bought this tablet for around £130 but have seen it for double that! This is not a review of the seller who has been very good and is sending a replacement charger which broke soon after purchase! Just don't be fooled into thinking this is a cheap Apple iPad. Save up your money and buy the real thing...Read full review...

As good as you can expect for the money.

I bought this Flytouch III mainly to show off photos and to play games. I have now had it a month and have not managed to get any photos on it. I can show them provided I have the Flash card or USB stick in the pad but can't seem to find out how to save them. This is obviously due to the poor manual that came with it, as most people have the same problem. It is quite slow compared to the ipad, but there again, you get what you pay for and on that score I am very pleased. The worse fault I have found is the mains charger jack plug broke within a week and I have had to buy a new one. This one has a UK plug which makes it easier and more secure. I hope to be able to save my photos on it but I can't say at the moment. Would be an extremely good buy if there was a decent manual, or you could find instructions on the internet, but without instructions, it is quite difficult. It is all a question of how patient you are and what you expect for your money. Quite satisfied.
GMay.

Don't pay more than £100 for this Tablet PC

I bought this tablet as a budget tablet, primarily to correspond and for entertainment. For browsing it's fine, but for watching videos it is poor.

Cannot download BBC IPlayer as the CPU is incompatible. YouTube runs slowly. Sound is tinny.

Touchscreen is not easy to use. It is jerky and inprecise. The device is slow and is prone to freezing.

Why pay Ipad prices when there are tablets like this?

This is in no way a comparison to the all singing all dancing I pad or similar spec tablets (asus etc.) This is not pretending to be the same as those, what this is is a cheaper means to keep in touch whilst (wifi)out and about have a more smarter diary (subject to app) and media storage to play music share photo's. I use this to connect to the Internet at night to check emails and browse ebay Connecting to Android Market is no problem. You can also upgrade the os (like I did) but you will have to find out about that yourselves.Read full review...

great product helpful and handy

I have been using this tablet device for just other a month now for personal and work related tasks.

ive enjoyed using the device and with a SD slot i have been able to go upto 40GB of data which is very helpful.

the android market and google co-products work great and ive been able to use some more up to date software on the device such as "LogMeIn Remote"

only issue i have had is that the screen is quite resistive.

a very good surprise xmas present

It was our intention to purchase a Kindle but were advised that the flytouch was more versatile in that the kindle books could be downloaded but still have many more apps available.
having shown this item to a friend who has an I pad he considering the price would recommend the product. I am waiting for some kindle books and a storage device to be delivered which we hope will save space when we go on holiday instead of taking six books eachRead full review...
