A good little performer.

Balances well in the hand and produces excellent pictures. The view can be seen on the LCD screen on the back of the camera or through the built in EVF (electronic view finder). Would I buy it again? This the second one I have bought over the years.Read full review...

"Pro" version of standard S602

This camera is much the same as the standard non-Pro S602 model. I'd strongly suggest those looking at this model to go over the opinions and information available for the S602 as most of it applies here too. You will also likely find it easier to find a copy of the normal camera rather than the Pro one.

The important extra features for the Pro model are a threaded socket for a manual release cable (the standard model has only a shutter release button, no way to attach a threaded cable) and a PC sync socket for connecting it to external flash systems. These two were requested by many of the advanced, keen amateurs and pros looking to do more careful studio work with it and to increase its functionality. The other features such as the bundled Microdrive and batteries are now largely obsolete as it's easy to get cheap batteries, memory cards and battery chargers now that will outperform the bundled items.

This model was introduced to satisfy the more keen and advanced consumer and to give them a little more flexibility out of the camera, as the "Pro" tag was to indicate. Unless you are going to be doing work on a tripod or with external flashes, the Pro model is otherwise identical to the standard one, with the same features, good or bad and it will produce the same quality of photos.

If you can get this model for the same price as the standard model then by all means go for it as a little extra functionality can't hurt for the same price and if you really get into the hobby it'll last a little longer that way. If you've read the reviews of the standard S602 (I've written a long review on the standard model on eBay going into some detail there and is too long to repeat here) and are happy with them and have no intention of using a cable release system for the shutter rather than the timer or simply pushing the button or you will not need to use an external or studio flash then ignore those features and go for whichever is cheaper or available on eBay at the time.

I'll repeat here what I thought of the original camera: It's rugged, easy to use and great for learning on. It can take the occasional knock and not break or die. It is inexpensive by today's standards while still being able to make good quality images - sometimes better than even new P&S cameras that may even be more expensive. It produces decent quality images (especially for the price) and will easily suit a learner keen on photography or family or holiday snaps with added versatility.

good buy

For a beginner it does the job well. I bought the item just to get used to the camera functions. It came with a manual that explains most of the functions and helps of with kicking off to great photos.

i know its not a good review but the camera was goo value for money.

Good points
for me its the strength of the camera. it feels strong and even though its old it doesnt have the ussual marks of wear and tear.

bad points
the only thing i dislike of the size and the flash does not automotically pop up

overrally its good

Excellent product

I love the large number of options available for taking pictures. There are so many that I'm still learning about all the different settings. The continuous option is definitely one of the best modes. I have been able to take some brilliant photos with this. My sons play live music and I have been experimenting with the camera and have taken some fantastic and interesting pictures. It is so nice to be able to take proper photos rather than just snaps which are never really that clear.

I decided to buy it as I have never had a decent camera and don't regret buying this for one minute. My only real moan about it is it can be quite heavy after a while and it don't fit in my handbag any more - but you can't have everything. The positives far outweigh those couple of negatives.

Decent Reasonably priced Camera

Having decided to try our hand at photography we needed a camera that would support our early needs and brek us in gently to the photography world.

This camera is perfect, its easy to use and looks the part. picture quality is spot on, we have just ordered a tripod for it, it seems accessories for this item are not as readily available as other models but ebay had what we needed.

Overall - Very Very pleased!

Read full review...
