Ive taken out the underperforming woofer from my Logitech z523 2.1 speakers and fitted one of these in its place, tbh its the best thing i ever did, the old 5.25" driver struggled to hit 40Hz this new one will easily hit 32hz, which is remarkable for a 6.5" driver. this is subwoofer territory.
The speaker is 8 Ohm so it's friendly with nearly all amplifiers, the bass response is first class it can really hit those deep notes in a good cabinet, i think this speaker is more geared towards sealed boxes, although they do perform well in ported types. depending on your box and proper measurements it will hit 30hz without a problem.
Make sure you fill the box with fiberglass wool if you fit this to a sealed type enclosure, this stops the sound bouncing around everywhere inside, similar principle to having a room with no carpet or furniture, the sound will echo. however NEVER use fiberglass speaker wadding in ported enclosures with a bass port, because everytime the driver moves it will pump microscopic shards of glass in the air, very bad for the lungs, use ONLY nylon wool for ported boxes.
I know the speaker is in fact bright yellow in colour but this isnt really a problem for me once fitted because the speaker fires downwards in the logitech sub enclosure, so you never see it.
It feels very well made and not fragile at all, but the actual sound itself is where this great little speaker shines, i ran a 200hz to 30hz frequency sweep at 96khz (wav) and i can tell you the results were pretty impressive there was only a tiny dip at about 150hz, after that its as smooth as silk. certainly good enough for any computer bass speaker, you can just tell its a proper hifi speaker as soon s you hear it, its punchy, warm and loud. and as i said above, 8ohms is ideal for speakers, nearly all amps are compatible without overheating at high volume, however i really only run it at 40% volume as that's more than enough for me with 2 satellites.
Ideal amps for this are rated at 4 ohms plus, it will work with car audio amps but it wont be as loud because the resistance is doubled from 4 to 8 ohms. car audio amps have to be lower rated in impedance simply because they run from only 12volts DC.
