HTC Desire Android Mobile Phone

I bought the HTC Desire because I wanted one item that would take the place of a camera, phone, notebook, Ipod, GPS, and databank. Does the Desire do all this? Yes it does, and so much more. the touch screen keypad is easy to use even for my fingers, the video quality is the best I've seen for such a compact device. There are loads of free apps available which range from games to gadgets and everything in between. It's really easy to use, but if you're struggling there are great "how to" sites on the web.
Is it perfect? No, the camera focusing and light metering aren't as good as on my old Sony Ericsson K800i, nor is the battery life. If you use it without a case it can get a little warm to hold, but a flip front case solves that one.
The bottom line is am I glad I bought it (and I bought it outright not on contract!), and would I buy it again? Yes and Yes!

My first smart phone

As a member of the generation that remembers the introduction of mobile phones I finally decided it was time to get an up-to-date version. Decided on HTC Desire cos it had reasonably good reviews without the silly money price. Works ok as far as android phones go, but as forwarned in the reviews the battery life is rubbish. Be prepared to carry the charger with you. Apart from that, even a android virgin like me has been able to work out how to use it. On-line help could do with a little tweaking, perhaps a search facility, but I've been able to google any answers not obvious in the help folder.
Overall I like the phone. Starting with a rating of 5 I'll take off 1 for the lack of battery life, and minus .5 for the online help. On the plus side it's easy to learn to use - well I managed it so it must be easy

Me and my Desire

I love this phone like I knew I would. I spent some time researching and deciding which Android phone I wanted and why. The desire, at the time, offered a high speed processor with a great screen size and a good basic feature set. Android as a phone OS offers a great degree of customisation out-of-the-box. I was particularly after an unbranded, any network model with the latest (2.2 - Froyo) build of the OS.

If you're looking for a phone that does everything you want immediately and doesn't require any thought or digging through the marketplace add-ons for extra features and enhancements then Android is probably not the best OS for you. I'm a technophile and the whole Android ethos was exactly what I was after. Not for me the constraints of the Apple iOS and the need to jailbreak an iPhone to get flexibility even starting to approach that of the Android system.

As for the HTC Desire itself, it has superb definition in its 480X800 WVGA AmOLED screen. Mutlitouch functionality is well handled. The camera produces clean and clear still and video images using the 5mp imaging hardware. The rounded rubberised plastic back shell feels really solid and comfy to handle - almost organic. Everything about the phone is solid and classy.

Internet access is quick, even when not using the WiFi. The Google Maps Navigation tool gives a unique edge to SatNav with access to StreetView imagery during navigation.

The only shortcomings with this Desire from my point of view are that it could possibly do with a little more memory and that there is no front screen video, meaning that future enhancements like video calling aren't going to work on it. Other than that - it's just what I always wanted.

HTC Desire WOW

I bought HTC Desire phone in December last year. i had heard so much about the android phones that it seemed the natural thing to do when upgrading my phone. I was not dissappointed the features are excellent. It does take getting used to, and the battery life is not as good as expected, but hey not everything is perfect. It is an expensive investment but one that is really worth it. The thousands of apps that are available will allow you to do anything you wish to do, whilst having fun at the same time.

If are you thinking of purchasing one remember that you will need a good internet package as it surfs the internet to update itself.

HTC Desire HD

Had the phone for approx. 2 weeks and very pleased. Excellent screen/ size though colours not quite as vibrant as Desire (this one has super lcd). Few nice options when using the camera and widgets. Seems slightly quicker than Desire. Battery life on par with Desire, I switch off WiFi/ 3G etc. when not using and would say I am a moderate user. Get around 1 1/2 to 2 days from battery and still improving. Excellent for using apps (Angry Bird's etc.) due to screen size. Overall I would recommend if looking for smartphone. If you have a Desire and reasonable eyesight (this is why I went for the larger screen)and small hands then I would stick with what you have.Read full review...

good to save money and it does the job

I will compare this phone to my old one which was HTC HD2 (windows phone).
PROS:
- better quality display esp watching youtube.
- the phone is thinner and lighter
- the system does not freeze like the windows one which I used to restart it almost everyday !
- too much games and applications can be dowloaded (thanks android)I really liked that the nost.

CONS:
- the internal memory is too small, lots of app can only be installed on phone memory, so you have to uninstall some to get others every while. it would be much better for HTC if they make it only one internal memory and get rid of these useless SD's !!
- the android system is abit complicated (took me 8 hours to add a language !)
- the camera shots are really bad (esp night one , always yellowish) even my old NOKIA N95 did a better quality images
- till now havent known how I can close a program or an application without going to the setings and press (forse close ) for every single app. ! and when you ignore that you will not be able to open other apps due to (low memory space notice you'll get) and even if you restart you're phone it wouldnt close the apps !!

overall, if you're looking for more practical smart phone go for iphone, but if you want to save money and get what it does the job I would recommend this phone (not the windows ones)!

HTC Desire

In my history I had lots of mobile phones but this one is just top one. It's amazing for it's functions, speed of internet acces. Lots of aplications online for free (mobilism.org). Just for help from guy who unlocked my one from Orange network :-)
Onl down side is battery life. Roughly 3 days if you are not using it too much.
But as I read review of SE experia 10 when used battery did not last even one day but on Desire more than that.
I am very pleased with my HTC Desire and definitely recomedit.

Very good phone

I've had this phone for about a month. I've never used a smart phone before and found it easy to get used to it and all its functions. I have big hands so thought texting would be a problem but when you turn the phone sideways the keyboard becomes bigger, making it easier to type.
My only complaint about the phone would be the battery life. It lasts only a day and sometimes not even a day depending on how much I use it. However, everyobody with a smart phone has this complaint about their phone, so it really can't be helped.
I did my research before buying this phone and its definitely the best android phone on the market.

HTC Desire Cell Phone Review

I chose this cell phone as this is a smart phone that would be useful for my job.
Its qualities draw my attention, e.g. the high speed of the processor, the screen resolution.
I was also interested in the internet access to my emails and work files.
This gadget has no disadvantage to me.

HTC Desire Mobile phone 2011

I bought this Hung Ta Corporation (HTC) Desire mobile phone, after looking it up on Which, Google and Best Buy mobiles magazine websites. It was also a feature on the Gadget Show (Sky) last summer and I made a note of it, because I wanted it for Christmas, to replace my small but very good Samsung.

HTC Desire - Good/Bad points. I have used this phone now for 5 weeks constantly and to be honest, I do not know how I ever did without one before now. Its like having a small computer in your pocket. Every time I buy something new these days, I spend weeks if not months reading and learning about it first.
(I am an Engineering teacher for Oil & Gas overseas so I have to know about my subject)

The only downside to this phone is the battery life. I went onto Google to ask others how to extend my battery on this phone. I did all that I was told and it does make 70% difference.
Only turning on items when I need to use them. I turn my phone on at 07.30 in the morning and it goes off at around 6–7 at night. I found that with the battery that came with the phone it lasted almost 3 working days?

However on e-bay there is a trader that is selling a larger 3000mA with an extended back which makes the phone a little deeper, but the phone now last me over 5 working days which is fantastic.
I have not yet, in the time I have had this phone and the amount of use it has had, I cannot find any faults so far. That is why it was voted the phone of the year 2010.

By the way The Hung Ta Corporation is the same company that designs the software for Microsoft I'm informed. They decided to produce their own phone and software system and I believe they design the systems for 80% of the phone out there.
Hope this item and information was as useful to you as it was to me when I was looking for a new Mobile phone.

Thank You e-bay for saving me £135.00p and more just on this item alone.
