May fafourite phone so far - but the slide-out keyboard could have been better designed.

I have tried various phones with slide out qwerty keyboards, and this is my favourite so far. However, it is not perfect, for my tastes. I preferred the physical keyboard and the physical design of the old Nokia E90. The 'Z' hinge mechanism on the Disire Z is more of a gimmick than a sensible design. It doesn't open as easy as the Nokia E90, and doesn't benefit from the unlimited tilt-ability of the Nokia E90. However, the rest of the Desire Z works very well. However, battery life is short. I have to recharge it every day, even if it's only in standby mode most of the time.Read full review...

very basic

whilst the phone is very responsive and does all the basic things it is also very frustrating as it wont connect to google play to download apps ,and wont even connect to market to download apps from there, added to the fact the battery drains at an alarming rate even with moderate use it makes this phone something i wouldnt recommend to anybody.Read full review...

Good phone but be prepared to charge it most days.

Bought as daughter wanted a phone with keyboard as well as touch screen and hates blackberrys. Battery life is poor if you use the phone to its full capacity but if you only use it for calls and texts then you can get a few days out of it.
Generally good layout and easy to get to grips with. Quite chunky but robust. The sounds good for music and the photos come out clear and better than most phone cameras.

good back up spare mobile

These phones are getting very old now but still a good back up spare, battery life is ok long as it's been changed for a new one, easy to use and for the money is good value l paid a tenner in 2021 for mine so for a £350-430 phone back in the day can't be bad ! so to round up.....no complaints this end.Read full review...

Not as user friendly as Blackberry

All round OK..However not as user friendly as as the Blackberry Torch which is super easy by comparison. I cannot speak on what appears to be multi apps as my only real use is predominantly for business emails so if you want all singing all dancing it would seem to have it all - and more. Blackberry no longer supports eBay use so this was my choice for those aspects as well as wanting a compact slide out qwerty keyboard.Read full review...

Worth every penny

Upgraded from a Nokia E63 but decided to buy the phone outright as it works out cheaper than contract phones.
This phone is great! I love the apps and can't stop d/loading them. There are so many really useful widgets/apps they make the phone invaluable.
It's very easy to use - I haven't had to use the manual as most things are self-explanatory and/or have pop-up help.
Battery life could be better - I've had to charge it every day.
Originally wanted a touch phone with qwerty keyboard but have very quickly got used to the on-screen keyboard and don't use the physical keys at all now.

Sturdy and well built

It is good as a phone and texting. Good call history.
Touch screen is temperamental but can be overcome by using the scrolling button and enter key on keyboard.
Keyboard works well and is what gives the phone its acceptability.
Built in word processor is very limited in its capability.
Very basic in all its features apart from home screen looks.

Nice phone

I purchased the HTC Desire Z phone because of its Slideout QWERTY keyboard but regrettably
the keyboard has a Scandinavian layout. This is not a major problem but I would have expected
a standard English layout in UK.

Kind regards
V. Bonney.

Great Smartphone - good value for money!

Bought this as an upgrade to a more traditional Nokia phone, and have to say am very impressed with this Smartphone. It's generally a stable unit, although the battery life isn't as good as my Nokia (lasts about 20 hours before needing a charge) it definitely is usable.

As a first step into the Smartphone world, this is a great phone, and HTC is very user friendly.
