Don’t rush without researching

My only criticism is that the charging lead in the picture suggests a newer device. I clicked without checking and subsequently received older devices than anticipated. My own fault though. The products came beautifully packaged and looking brand new with almost a full charge in each. Paperwork included and everything very professionally presented. The Gen 2 is a bit slower than the newer models when downloading but my kids are delighted and they are perfect for them. The cases are good but I may ditch them in favour of something more child appropriate to protect the iPads. The ones provided are great for adults but for younger kids, a more robust, rubber affair may be a safer bet. On the whole, we are very happy and my only small niggle is the picture of the more recent lightning charger on the sales picture. Everything else is even better than expected and this is not intended to be a negative review, more a pedantic observation and constructive criticism on my part. Read full review...

Really slow and keeps hanging!!

The item performance is very slow and hardly can do any work on the apps. My little boy has to wait atleast for a minute for the apps to load. Once the apps load it hangs very often. Not reallty recommended as the toddler games require a lot more memory.

Also there is a small line like a dent on top left hand corner of the display so i belive the display was damaged either in transit or at the warehouse

I would returning the item.

A decent treat. If you browse a lot, you'll get a lot of use from it.

Overall I'm happy with the purchase. It works well as a portable device for viewing things on the web. If you browse on the internet a lot, you'll get a lot of use from it even if you have a laptop. Great for reading papers from the web for example. It switches on instantly. I have a very cheap cover (£8 ish) and as soon as i open it, the ipad comes to live. No waiting for it to boot. I also upload/download documents on it such as reports and texts (pdfs etc) on it which I use for work purposes. Everything is accessible. Very portable and easy to carry around. I have the wifi version but i get decent ish access on the move by 'tethering' my mobile phone via bluetooth (I have a package with 3 and i pay about £4.50 a month for a bolt on which gives me 3gb for doing this). Not always reliable for watching tv via tethering from my phone though but that's no surprise I guess. I got a refurbished version for about £285.00. Not fantastic value I don't think but decent. I've rated value for money average because I see so many low priced tablets around. I guess they aren't apple ones. Unfortunately, after making the horrendous error of opting for a Samsung Omnia rather than a iphone 3 in 2008, I'm too afraid to do anything non apple anymore so I was caught over a barrel pretty much in having to get this one. Still, I went for a lowish spec as I like the thought of carrying it around in my bag etc rather than keeping it at home afraid of anything happening which i prob would do if I paid £300+.Read full review...

A good item if the price is right

I have long wanted a tablet and having read the Which reports I concluded that the Ipad looked the best buy but I thought the cost just too high. The Ebay offer I found was very good value (£280)so I decided to give it a try.

As a long term PC user it takes a bit of getting used to, but it seemed pretty easy to set up and I have been collecting apps. There are a lot of free games available and because the tablet is easily held, I have been having fun with those.

Email seems to work OK with one big drawback - I do a lot of surveys - most of which require Flash which is not supported. This is by far the biggest problem I have found and the reason I will not award 5*.

I have not tried any serious business applications - spreadsheets for example as I feel that these are more suited to my PC.

I have been having fun with the camera which is very easy to use - due to the large picture showing on screen.

I still have a lot to learn to get the most from my new toy, but on the whole - with the exception of the missing Flash support, I am very pleased with my purchase.

No regret, definitely worth the expense! And so user friendly!

I bought this iPad for many reasons, such as my laptop had recently broke, I am planning to go travelling next year and thought something like an iPad would be great for when im there, and my dad hogs our family pc. So far I have not stopped using it, as my phone is not a great product for Internet, battery life etc, but this iPad is fantastic. I can use it all week and still have battery left over, I can download any games and apps I want, and I can FaceTime friends and family which makes a nice change to normal phone calls. Also the product is so easy to use that my mum (who is hopeless with all technology) has recently bought an iPad also, as she loves them too. The best thing I like about them is the fact they are so light and small that I can take it anywhere with me, I can watch stuff when I'm at the gym, I can search the Internet whilst watching tv and I can take decent quality photos. Overall it was an unexpected expense when buying this iPad, but one I do not regret as nothing about it has failed me yet. Just what I wanted!Read full review...

Great value for money

For a refurb it works perfectly well, a little disappointed in the speed I have an analogue tablet, it is faster but only just. Never having used an i Pad before, it takes a bit of getting used to but at 78 I am probably not as sharp a I would like. Overall excellent value for moneyRead full review...

I love my iPad - best gadget I've ever treated myself to!

Apple products might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I personally like them. I find the apps easy to install and use and the iPad is really user friendly. So much so that I bought this one for my elderly mother (who is terrified of anything technological) after seeing how easily she got on navigating around my own iPad.

The good points:
Easy to use, there's an app for practically everything you'd ever want from a tablet. I like the larger screen (as opposed to the ipad mini, or similar android devices) as it gives a good, clear, readable image. Having a front facing camera is a definite bonus especially for applications such as FaceTime or Skype. Battery life is better than on the iPhone though I can't compare it to other tablets as I've not used any of them.

The not so good points:
Still quite weighty which does cause your arms to ache if you're holding it up for a length of time. Cameras could be better resolution, and the lack of a flash is a big disappointment. Pictures can be grainy especially in poor lighting. Still find it difficult to transfer photos from the iPad to my pc via iTunes, but there are apps out there to help you do this. Would like the ability to expand the memory of the iPad by using an SD card (you can do this on some android tablets) as I don't think it would take too long to fill up the 16GB memory if you were taking lots of photos, adding lots of music and apps to your device.

At the end of the day you get what you pay for and although in this case you are partially paying for the apple name, you do get an excellent product.

Lovely clean very good condition example in excellent working condition :D

Was expecting item a little rough round the edges but this one was in very good condition indeed, all set up as well and the screen is just so clean and clear making for a superb deal all day long. Def recommend if you have need for something to read ebooks on or use as a watch listening device, OK its not going to be playing triple A games anytime soon but for the price paid this was an excellent purchase.Read full review...

phenomenly mind blowing!!

I had purchased the apple ipad 2 from ebay, as it was well priced compared to other sources i had looked around and also the cheapest.

My first experience using the apple ipad 2? I was absolutely blown away. With the required apps downloaded and the capabilities of utilising the ipad 2 I must admit the technology is mindblowing. With high definition highly pixelated screen, highly responsive with the touch of the finger and the phenomenal processing speed of which does not freeze the system at all.

What can I say, i absoloutely love it!

I love the super slim design of the pad, its sleek looks which gives it a touch of exclusivity. The big screen of which you can view the apps and also can watch uploaded videos in high definition. Its superb internet speed connection either paired up with your mobile phoine plan data or simply from wifi technology.

The only crtitism about the ipad i really have to say is about its weight, it does seem to feel weighty and sometimes i have to be carefull how i handle the ipad, in fearing i may loose its grip and accidently damage it.

Yes the ipad 2 is big and wide, can be difficult to carry around. But you have to compromise by either worrying about the size and weight, or simply the high tech gadget that you can literally do anything to it.

How the product compares to the rest? simply one word... its an evolution.

Its takes a dominant role in the market, where it has become a must have in everyones shopping list.

Great device - excellent user experience - wish we had bought one sooner!

Bought this Ipad2 for my non computer-literate wife, who can navigate around her iPhone so I thought she should manage the iPad. Turns out I was right and she uses it far more than the Netbook she previously hardly used. Apple got it right with the interface and it's a dream to use for her.
It's light and the screen quality is very good and battery life is excellent. She took it on a family visit (without me to 'assist') and proved just how good a photo album it is. It is however let down by poor camera resolution compared with the iPhone which considering its class was a really poor decision by Apple.
Pictures taken on the trip were very disappointing when compared with those uploaded to it before the trip and shown around. Lacks a 'flash' light too.

Compared to the desktop PC, you could really only describe the iPad as a 'consumer' device, being able to generate very little on it, but considering the use now made of it in this family it is entirely appropriate.
Did buy an after market USB/camera/SD adapter to upload existing photos to iPad, but USB port apparently draws too much current and won't run, so only able to use SD card reader portion of it. Have not tried direct from a camera to USB port yet which I guess is the true use for that connector.
My purchase had iOS 5.0 installed already so did not need to go near a computer to set it all up, and the update to iOS 5.01 was seamless by WiFi.
It's an expensive purchase, but excellent technology and the use to be made of it justifies the price Apple can get for it.
All in all, I would heartily recommend anyone who has need to 'consume' data, ebooks, web browsing, photo album, music library, address book and diary etc, but the crowning glory is the 'Apps', of which there are thousands, many of which have found their way to her iPad.
My rating is 9/10 (let down by the camera otherwise it would have been 10)
Oh, by the way, she quickly had it taken over by the 5 year old and 9 year old grandchildren who took like a duck to water using it and hardly wanted to give it back.... guess I should not have loaded all those game apps on it !!
