Not to be used for shaping and widening rings.

Good piece of kit not to be used as a shaping mandrel though it is not sturdy enough and would break and besides you would mark your rings.
Seems sturdy enough for the purposes of measuring and besides what someone else said in their review about there being no marking on the rings, well this is incorrect, there most definitely are numerical marking indicating ring sizes on the eyelets holding the rings onto the wire chain, these numbers can be referenced on the mandrel and there is also a conversion chart featuring European standard, British and German sizing.

Gives a reasonable indication of ring sizes

Fair price, so reasonable value. Compared to a jeweller's ring sizer, this was about half a size larger. E.g. it showed a ring as a size J whereas the jeweller's ring sizer showed it as between a size I and a size J. The only other criticism is that none of the circular rings seem to have any size markings on them at all. Nonetheless this product was useful for the task in hand.Read full review...

Okay product but not for coin-ring enthusiasts

All written below is not the product's fault, as I should have got more info on the product itself, but if you are looking for a jewellers mandrel for your coin-ring hobby, this is NOT the item you would want. The material seems a bit too soft as it doesn't handle harder metals. I made huge dents into this mandrel with my first coin-ring already. The material of this mandrel is suitable for putting on rings of silver, gold and such, while I guess it is not intended for light thumping that is necessary when creating a coin-ring. Another thing that makes it unsuitable for coin-ring creations is its shape. The measurement scale makes it impossible to create perfectly round rings.

Again, I admit my knob-ness, but it might help someone buying a mandrel for creating coin-rings.Read full review...
